Hi Guys,

WAI Compliance is very important for us and it rather limits our choice of online editor. We've settled on XStandard but very few commercial CMS's support it. Is it possible to replace the editor that comes with Umbraco with XStandard? Or some other WAI compliant editor?

Thanks,

Pete

Yes, you'll need to create your own "DataType" where you use the XStandard as the editing control. You can do this without modifying the umbraco source, due to umbraco's plug-ins architecture. This means that even though you're replacing the existing editor, you can still use any new updates coming. There's no documentation on creating datatypes, but if you look in the "umbraco.EditorControls" project you can use the existing ones as templates.

If you want help with creating it, feel free to contact me. It would be excellent to be able to support the XStandard editor (even though people would need to buy a license for that).

Cheers,
NIels...

No worries. Am currently working on a non-umbraco project and that will need to take priority right now. But will definately be looking at his further. Also, the guys at XStandard have a special license for open source projects. It doesn't look too bad. You might want to take a look -> http://www.xstandard.com/en/programs/xstandard-lite-for-partner-cms/

Cheers, Pete

Unfortunately, their open source version is the limited version as far as I recall, which was one of the reasons why it was dissed in favor of tinymce.
