Wouldn't it be great to have inside Umbraco, so you could alter already uploaded images?

Now, I would like to add it to the media context menu. But I am unsure if its possible to do with Umbraco without hacking the source code. Does Umbraco expose a set of functions which allows you, for instance, to add an extra menu item from the outside?
