Hi everyone,
Does somebody know what the function is of the content channels in the Users section? I'm trying to find information on the internet but nothing interesting is available. So my question: what is the purpose of these content channels? And how do I use them?
Thanks and greets!

I'm sorry. I still really don't see the purpose of the content channels. Maybe because I don't use livewriter or so. Any other examples/explanations?

Hm, I read another article about LiveWriter in Umbraco. Correct me if I'm wrong but the content channels are designed mainly for LiveWriter. So users can 'log in' as the name you fill in in the content channel tab. And they automatically come in the editor or something else for the content type you selected on the tab?

Well, the purpose is to let people publish something without even having to know that it is umbraco they are publishing in. Any program that can publish to the metablog API can use the content channels, and this includes Word 2007. So if you have an officeworker that should not do anything but publish news items, then he can do so without getting instructions on how to use umbraco. Instead he can use word 2007 to publish his news items. That's pretty neat... Alos for creating content while offline, and then just pushing it live when you connect the next time. It can even handle images in the text, so you don't have to go through the whole create-upload-insert image process.

Oh. Thanks for that good explanation :). But still. Why is it located in the users section? Because people can anonymously post than or so?

Yes, it is because the user needs to be authenticated in order to use the metablog api.
