Hmm, edit didn't work, I meant to add, I've stayed at the Cab Inn before, it's nice enough -though the rooms were a touch on the small side. Tim

Cab-inn is clean and cool and small, but who'll use the rooms for anything else but mailchecking with this codegarden program: http://umbraco.org/codegarden-2008/program;-) Niels...

Hi all,
It's getting closer now and I'm starting to think about the practicalities. I don't usually use a laptop but I imagine it's pretty much mandatory to have one for Codegarden (I'm going to steal one). Thinking along these lines got me thinking about other stuff. I haven't been to a conference like this one before so maybe the answers to these questions could help me and some of the other new faces at CG08:
- can I get by if I don't have a laptop? - what is the ideal set up on my laptop? - do I come along with an empty install of Umbraco? - which version of Umbraco should I install? - should I wear my suit? - should I clear space on my laptop for all this new code I'll be writing and sharing? - any other hints/tips for getting the most out of the conference?
Disclaimer: Not all of these questions are entirely serious.
Cheers, and looking forward to it!
David

Wear a suit its a must!
Im joking by the way just in case the smiley doesnt show up.
If u dont bring a laptop make sure you have a pen drive so you can get your mits on all the lovely code. Bring plenty of business cards networking is one of the major value adds to codegarden, I made plenty of friends during cg06.
With regards to version I have a dev 305 site we use so im bringing that to hack.

If you want to compete in the package contest http://umbraco.org/blog/2008/5/7/make-a-package---win-an-xbox-360-with-rockbandA laptop would be necessary

Without revealing too much, I don't think you would need to bring a usb drive and I think 3.0.5 would make you seem like so-last-year during the afternoon ;-)

Jokes aside, a laptop is a plus as well as some sort of business cards. As Ismail said, CG is really a great oppotunity to make new friends (which is networking as it should be).
...and there isn't any conference like CodeGarden (not that I know of), so keep the Q's coming. It's part conference, part un-conference, part hack-fest, part what you make it. We don't know what'll happen, but we know that the people coming are fantastic, that the facilities are ace and we fortunate to be gathered in 48 hours without the need to think about clients and deadlines :-)

Interested in crashing on a sofa? I could put up a blog post asking if any cph-based umbracians would be interested?

Very kind offer Niels, thanks. But i'll be spending the weekend before the conf in CPH and I am also a bit of a night owl so I don't think it would be fair on anyone. I'll do my usual last minute wizardry and pull something out of the hat :)

I'm now staying at the astonishingly priced Imperial hotel near Tivoli gardens. Will be drinking in CPH on Saturday eve and sightseeing on Sunday before the main event on Monday. I'm thinking about buying a city guide! D.
