I would like to present examples of a command line in my content, like so:

regname <file> <logfile> [/t]

The problem is, that the < and > markers are removed from the content, even if they have been escaped with &lt; and &gt;. In other words: the tags are removed and the result on the page is:

regname [/t]

I understand both tinyMCE and Tidy are involved, but I can't see how this would affect these escaped tags. Is this a bug or is there something I can do?
