Since CodeGarden there's been an ongoing discussion about setting up a UK meet as there is a growing number UK based developers who were unable to make it over to Denmark this year. I'm currently trying to gauge the level of interest, where it might be held, what'll go on etc so for more information check out my blog (rather than me re-posting it here): UK Umbraco Meet UpThoughts anyone? Tim p.s. Feel free to move this out of Misc if you want :)

Hi Tim, I am interested. I think the location should be based on the people who are willing to attend maybe. More people from north attending, maybe move it slightly nearer to them, and likewise for the South - just a thought. Hi Tim, I'm also interested! Being based in Glasgow I like the idea of it being in the Midlands as opposed to London as well. It'll be difficult to match CG08 but we could try! Does Birmingham have a sun-soaked waterfront location we could use? David Certified Umbraco developer

I'd be up for this. Perhaps we can all place ourself on a shared google map, and work out where is convenient for everyone.

Guys,
I'm up for this and i know probably 3 - 4 more people who will also be up for it.
I think midlands sounds like a good location. I do recall with regards to location of this post that there was a uk umbraco post somewhere on the forums might be worth moving it there?
Anyhow dates? Weekday evening? Venue?
Regards
Ismail

You guys might want to look at the Belgium process and ask Tim about his experiences - I think that was mint. They're meeting on July 17th, I think.

I think Ismail is right that we should keep our discussion to one topic. It'd be hard for me to travel up to Birmingham or somewhere just for an evening. I think daytime would be better, either a whole or half day. I guess before we decide on where should we try and thrash out at least a draft of atendees and base the location on that? A venue is obviously quite important. Obviously with WiFi, maybe some projector facilities if the format includes presentations. Also, cheap/free would be good though I would be willing to chip in with someone as a sponsor.

Coming from the South East its a long way for me to go for an evening - especially with the ridiculous cost of petrol in the UK at the minute! So I think a full day would be better if we can, from my point of view. That's my 2cents worth! Warren Warren Buckley an Umbraco MVP 08-09 & level 1 certified developerAre you NEW to Umbraco? I would also like to attend a UK meetup. I am based in the south east; I'm not sure that an evening in Birmingham would be practical with the 3hr drive each way so if it's midlands based it should ideally be day time?

Sun? Midlands? Are those two ever together? LOL There are a few nice locations -and superb burger bars that we could frequent in Birmingham, not sure about Manchester but there may be an office available there (I'll know more about that shortly). Google maps, yep here we are: http://tinyurl.com/3oaf8x email me your Google email address to timgaunt at gmail dot com and I'll give you access to edit the map :) Tim

Hi Adz, Yep, we'd certainly make a day of it (or a couple of there's enough interest). Tim

I'm sure us London/South East guys can car pool if it turns out that the midlands is the best place for this.

We have an office in Wolverhampton (nr Birmingham for those who don't know!) which is right next to the train station, and a meeting room for up to 12 people. So depending on popularity we would be able to use that.

They've got trains to "where dragons lie" country ;) 1.5hrs from London and you're in the center of Brum, get two singles and you'll have change from £20 :) or if you want to live in luxury, take first class, that's about £40 if you buy two singles ;)
