DiscountASP http://www.discountasp.netUSA (California?) - Basic ($10/month) - 2005 to present - Umbraco v3 - SUCCESS! Control panel is very good. Support is generally very good. They provide pretty good MS SQL support as well. I was able to get Umbraco up-and-running with absolutely no adjustments. Just FTP the files to the site, proceed with install, remove install directory... and you're set!

I will second the recommendation for DiscountASP.Net. I have had my own website there - www.FloydInnovations.com since I've owned the domain, which was back in "Classic" ASP days. I have excellent uptime. Heather

I'd also recommend discountasp.net, particularly if like myself you are in the UK and taking advantage of some rather nice exchange rates!
I use discountasp.net for my personal development stuff and for Microsoft .Net technologies, I doubt they can be beat.

Oh, and forgot to mention that they have some pretty good signing bonuses as well (I believe 3 months free). http://www.DiscountASP.net

Thanks for the info. Am I right in thinking you must pay extra for the SQL database?

Yes, you must pay extra for SQL Server but to be honest, it's hardly going to break the bank...

VirtualRichard wrote:to be honest, it's hardly going to break the bank... That's the best part... It's like $10 for the basic account, and $10 for SQLServer. I'm also saving a bit since I can use one database for multiple websites. The only important thing to remember is to configure your applicationNames uniquely, so users with profiles/memberships on one site don't automatically get the same on your other site (unless that's what you want...) Also with www.DiscountASP.net, I've never had problems with Trust/security, as some users experience with more restrictive sites such as GD.

I had trouble creating new sites through Visual Studio one day last week; raised a support ticket and they had the FrontPage extensions re-installed and working again same day.

Just so you know, I have installed Umbraco on DiscountASP. Works as longas its deployed in the site root.
I am using the Server 2008 hosting and I have the dabtase running on the SQL Server 2008 beta with no problems.
Looks good.

Hello all, I am new to umbraco and am trying to install it on my bright shiny new discoutasp.net 2008 hosting account. I may be missing something here but it definately does NOT run with 'no adjustments'. First thing I encountered was a problem with the web.config described here: http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postst5215_Problem--Umbraco--IIS7--Integrated-Pipeline.aspxVirtualRichard later went on to say in the same thread that he was able to have his IIS7 account configured to have the Application Pool Pipeline Mode set to 'Classic'. Could someone tell me exactly how this is done on discountasp.net? Thanks.

It's in the discountasp.net admin pages under IIS Administration or such.

Been using DiscountASP.net for the past few weeks to develop an Umbraco website, so far no major complaints. As dgaj noted I also had to do a few config things in order to get going, but that was to be expected. Was up and running pretty quickly.
However, I have been getting intermittent errors from time to time - some related to a failure to connect to the DB (timing out), others that come back with a weird "RegEx" error (that one's random, haven't been able to reproduce it consistently, will need to do a search on the Forums next time it comes up).
Anyways, not a major concern, at least for now.
I am noticing that the server does seem slow though, and not just to load Umbraco admin or Umbraco produced pages, but binaries as well. Could be a million and one things of course, but was just curious to know if anybody using DiscountASP has experience anything similar?
