Contract Position: Umbraco Website Developer - Umbraco v4 (.NET Master Templates), XSLT, XHTML, CSS
at Connect-Digital (http://www.connect-group.com)

Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, WV1 1HT (working remotely, some face-time in the south east may be required)

Position Summary: To implement an Umbraco v4 based website which will integrate with an existing Umbraco system being developed in parallel. The website GUI has already been designed and prototype pages are available. The site will provide a search interface to a list of vehicles for sale, a blog, site map, some simple 'static' web pages, contact forms, and integration with Google Maps to locate nearby retail partners.

Responsibilities
- Identify and create Document Types and templates
- Translate prototype into Umbraco (XHTML Master templates, CSS)
- Create search XSLT or modify standard XSLTSearch
- Use of XSLT and/or .NET controls where required
- Creation of custom .NET control capable of transforming a CSV file into Umbraco content
- Iterative development approach, so that site functionality can be reviewed and continuously improved
- Creation of XHTML Contact Forms which will integrate with Connect-Digital's CRM system via our own custom .NET Control

Qualifications
- Proven ability to deliver products of the highest quality and on time.
- Good written and communication skills
- Development Experience in Umbraco v3
- .NET / Umbraco Data type experience
- Strong XHTML / CSS and cross-browser compatibility experience
- XSLT and Umbraco Macros
- Experience of Yahoo YUI (Grids, and JavaScript Controls) a bonus
- Experience of Umbraco v4 a bonus, although differences between v3 and v4 are small

Other information
May be required to attend 1 or 2 briefings either in Wolverhampton, London, or Essex
Must have broadband internet access.
Access to iChat for screen sharing a bonus.

The rate is dependant on the contractor, experience and the match with the skill req. :-)

I just mention it as a number of contractors I know wouldn't reply to an add unless there was *at least* some kind of indicator on that....

Thats bad business - as a contractor your essentially running your own business... one should ask for what they think their services are worth! Fair to say "competitive" rates acceptable.

I disagree on the 'bad business' point. In a market where there is plenty of work for good contractors the emphasis shifts to the hiring organisation to show that the work is both stimulating and financially rewarding. We aren't losing out by not working for you!

Just a note to say this contract is now filled. Big thanx to all the respondents. Good to know there are so many qualified professionals out there ready to rock and roll on Umbraco!
