Hi,

I have just installed unbraco and could not find an answer to my quesion in the books (it might be there, I think I am not used to umbraco therminology yet).

I am wondering if I can have a catalog of items in the system: say I want visitors be able to see a list of items, select one and view its full details. Content editor shall be able to add/remove/edit an item in the catalog, too.

An item would be a description, color (from a drop down), size, a few other text fields and a few photographs. Is this possible? Where can I read about it?

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

First: welcome to umbraco. Second, you're right, it can be 'difficult' at first. Difficult in the sense that it might be frustrating to not find the right docs at the right time. But you're here now and we'll help you out at soon as possible.

As to your question, have a look at this summary by tim.
His list contains a number of references which could get you started quite easily.

Alternatively, you might want to install the 'Creative Website Wizard' by warren, which can be installed either through the online repository. Go to 'Developer' section, right-click on 'Macro' and select 'Import package'. Click on the 'Go to the package repository' link at the bottom. Click on the 'Website Packages' link. You'll find a link to the 'Creative Web Site Package'. Package will install a sample site from which you can learn the basics of creating a website.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask here in the forum. Lots of experiences users will be here to answer those.

Good luck on your journey!

Regards,
/Dirk

Btw, I'm assuming that you've downloaded v3.x. If using v4, installing the website wizard package is a bit different, but not much. Shouldn't be a problem.
