This will not be possible because of the tight integration in Umbraco including some modifications to parts of TinyMCE.
It would be nice when the final v4 of Umbraco will be using TinyMCE v3... because it has more features, less bugs and better html output. Anyone working on that?
The best solution for the future would be to integrate TinyMCE in such a way that new versions of TinyMCE can be installed without updating Umbraco... don't know if that would be possible.

We'll need to rewrite the plugins, but it's not a massive job. This time I just want to do it right, so it'll be easy to upgrade and works even if you rename the umbraco directory. Ya know - all the stuff that was a bit too hacked last time.

OK, And possibility to switch tinymce into askmode ? http://wiki.moxiecode.com/examples/tinymce/installation_example_08.phpI don't like editing in timyMce, but you add nice feature to image button which allow users to upload image which is sometimes helpful. P.
