Hi.
I'm new into using Umbraco.
I can´t select my templates when adding content. The dropdown only holds "Main".
What am I doing wrong?
I have created a template by selecting setings -> Document Types -> Create. Given the document type a name and selected "create a mathing template".

What am I doing wrong? Actually, nothing, it should be ok! I've been simulating your case but was unable to reproduce. If checkbox is selected, template should be created and doc type's default template should be set. Can you give us some more info on umbraco version/os version/browser settings? Regards, /Dirk

Make sure you go into the Settings > DocTypes section and select the parent DocType (HomePage or Home probably)
Then on the Structure tab, make sure you check the valid child DocTypes so that they will show up for you when adding a node in the Content section. This is how you tell umbraco what DocTypes are allowed to be nested.
If you're meaning to allow multiple templates per docType, that is done on the Info tab of the Settings > DocType section.
If you've deleted the template for a DocType, I believe you must go back to the DocType and select a new default after checking the allowed templates as Dirk mentioned. You must check the allowed templates and save the DocType before selecting a default and re-saving.

Dear Dirk.
Umbraco version is 3.0.5.
OS is Vista and Windows server 2003 SP 2 (have installed on both - both gives me the same headacke :-) )
Browser: Have tried with IE7.0, Firefox 2, Firefox 3 and Safari.
I´m pretty sure that it is something i'm doing wrong.

I´ve tried to check almost every possible child DocType. But what is a valid child DocType? What are the used for?
Allowed template are only checked in "it self".
I have not deleted any DocTypes.

Hi Daniel,
Can you be just sure that you have checked all the templates that you seek to use in the Settings>YourDocType>Allowed Templates section section also same need to be done if you seek to use another doctype inside yourdoctype under Structure tab... I think if you check the allowed templates you will be able to use the templates...

Hi
I have just found out why I could not use the templates.
As bnkrazy and amritanshu mensured, it was a fault using structure :-)
Now it is working fine.
