Hi, I have been trying the new v4 alpha, from a nigthly build juli 1st (1.0.3104.77_633504710345745000.zip).
It installs nicely using the Mysql datalayer and I can install both the boost and the WebsiteWizard packages.
My problem comes when I try to find/edit the nodes that should be there in the content tree. I can get them listed when I choose sort in the menu that appeares when right clicking. Otherwise they fail to appear. I can see the Boost Homepage, Homepage and Frontpage created by the two packages only when sorting.
When I try to create content, Umbraco dosen't complain but nothing shows up in the content tree even after I publish it.
What am I doing wrong? I have uninstalled and deleted everything in the website and database several times but this behavior still exists.
Can anybody help me? /Zerak
P.S. I can't see my installed packages either. When I click it, it shows the load icon briefly, then flipps and the little arrow vanishes. The one that indicates that there is more info in the folder.

Sounds like a bug in that nightly build. You should report it on CodePlex. If you're new to umbraco or need a production-ready site you should definitely use v3.0.5. cheers, doug.

Hi, I'm new allright. But I need it to work with MySQL, so 3.* is not really an option. Ok, I'll report it if I can. Do you have any idea when a little more stable version is supposed to be released?
I could only find the nightly builds as an easy place to download the 4.0 version. Is there a better place to find such versions?

Hi zerak, Currently we have a v4 beta 1 which you can find at the bottom of this page. As Doug already mentioned, you should use v3.* versions for production, unless... well, it's up to you to make that decision. Greetz, /Dirk

Nope, still the same behaviour. I know it is not production stable, but I would at least like to find a version that is stable enough to do some testing in.
The servers involved are a win2003 server that runs the IIS (6.0) and a Debian (linux) server that runs the mysql (5.0).
That shouldn't and doesn't present any problems with the installation and such issues. It dosen't either complain when I'm installing packages, well most of the time anyway.
I can save and publish a new page/node but I can't see them under the content node.
Has anybody used this build with mysql and gotten the proper behaviour? I assume so. If so what did you need to do?
My configuration: I have simply given modify permissions to both the IIS user and network service user om the IIS server, as well as have already created a database in the mysql which is empty from the start. Then I access the site's root directory and the installation runs. Smoothly. It dosen't give me an error or any complaints.
Infact everything seems to work smoothly since it dosen't even write anything in the log table in the database. The other tables are filled with stuff. The contentXml table has nodes with ids that are the same as the ids in umbracoNode, and such.

Same error here. Have tried several fresh installs with MySQL 5 databas. Also tried the following Umbraco versions:
- Source code Aug 11. 2008 changeset 35489 - v4.0 Beta 1, Assembly 1.0.3145.19320, Released 08/11/2008 11:44:52
It seems to be an error in V4 only related to MySQL (possible only MySQL 5).
I tried the same installation process and source/build, with msSQL and the Content Tree works perfect.
Please report as a bug.
