I get the following error when I click the save button when trying to sort media files, regardless of how I've sorted them - just opening the sort dialog and clicking save results in the error:

"The server method 'UpdateSortOrder' failed with the following error: System.NullReferenceException -- Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I'm running Umbraco v.3.0.5, upgraded from 3.0.3, and using Internet Explorer 7. The pop-up does not show up in Firefox, but the error is still there, because the "updating..." status never disappears (and the files are not sorted).

I am also having problems with some media files not showing up when trying to sort them. This is not related to the length of the name of the media file, as some people have mentioned elsewhere in the forums. I am not sure if this bug is related to the sort-bug, because I it is only in some folders that I don't see all media files when sorting, and I get the sort error on all folders.

I also have the UpdateSortOrder window staying open with 'updating' image staying...
I know and just close the window but for clients it will be horrible, any chance of getting to bottom of that would be great ;) Cheers!

I get: "The server method 'UpdateSortOrder' failed with the following error: -- There was an error processing the request."

Do you have the logging extension installed? When I look at the log, sort events are not logged and nor is the error. Could it be the logging package causing the error?

The sort does happen. If I close the pop-up and reload the nodes I can see my changes have been made.

Was there any update on this issue as I also have a client with the same issue?
