Alright so I am trying out umbraco for the first time and I need some help. I have v4 beta 2 because I use master files and want to convert all of my .net aspx sites over to umbraco. So I have v4 beta 2 running, and I have tried pulling over a master page and when I view the page the footer text comes up etc, how do I get the images to link in? Also how to I get the css to link, I have put the css in the css folder, how do I get the master page to view that. Also once that is set up, how to I create content to use the master page on go on the site? I have tried downloading some help repositories but I get an error everytime I download them. I need to convert over atleast 1 site this week and need a lot of help. Please help me out guys I am desperate to learn this.

Hi Ewatkins,

Welcome to umbraco.

Images to link? Are these part of the layout? Just drop those images in any folder and reference those as you would in classis asp.net? Btw, you can easily use your favorite vs.net tools to edit the (master) templates. If you've put the css files in the css folder, umbraco will pick up those and list them as well! Again, just as in plain asp.net, add those as you've done a thousand times before. Most of the stuff will go into the master template.

Creating content is as simple as:

- Creating a document type to 'represent' the page's content. Set the desired template (If you haven't one in place - besides the master - create a new one...). Add some properties.
- Add content nodes of the newly created document types.

If you need extra help in getting up and running, feel free to ask more questions.

Here's a nice list of resources that might be of extra help. Most of those were written for v3 but still apply for v4 beta 2.

Hope this helps.
