As a fellow newbie, maybe i can offer some insight.

After you created your document type with like, a Rich text editor on it (check out the free video on document types). you also have to add the section in the Template to tell Umbraco where to add the content you'll soon add.

...now click the content button - bottom left and then on the Content heading with the folder thing to the left, right click "create" and name it. select the document type that you created for it, press create.

Then add your content.

Andddd then hit the save button - with the globe...to publish it.

then you should be able to view it on your site. navigate to it by the name you called it adding .aspx to it.

or in the page properties tab,....click the link at the bottom
