Hi this is murthy ,

I have doubts about umbraco :

1. umbraco is existing CMS project ? or it is like a visual studio 2005 to create a website?

2. Can we create a controls like buttons (image button ,button and linkButton),Text boxt, Drop down lists and grid views from umbraco ?

3. "IS umbraco is a tool to create a website ?" or" it is a ready CMS project for End user ?" or "third party software ?

Please answer it clearly ..........

Please answer it clearly ..........

1. Umbraco is something you can download and install (by following the very intuative wizard) on your Web server and works right out of the box. There is no coding involved whatsoever to get a content managed Web site up and running. Having said that, Umbraco has hooks to extend it's functionality or include custom functionality very easily, by allowing you to include your own User Controls and exposing the content via XML which allows you to manipulate it using XSLT.

2. Umbraco will never tell you how to present your content. This is one of its greatest features IMO. So, any markup that you can work with in today's browsers will be supported in the CMS using user controls or the readily available datatypes (like TinyMCE, dropdown lists, textboxes, etc.) and of course CSS. It even allows you to use controls like the calendar and any other library control that you would use in your .NET pages via Macros and User Controls. Very powerful stuff. Since Umbraco produces its content in XML, the natural markup for this would be xHTML for your templates.

3. If I didn't misunderstand the last question, I think you have your answers above.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you nee any further clarification.

Best,
Nik
