Active Directory integration Options

I would like to be able to integrate Umbraco members and users with Active Directory. Does anyone have any suggestions, or examples, as to how I might go about this? Are there features planned for v3 that might make such integration possible?

Niels has stated that they are working on implementing the ASP.Net 2.0 membership providers. This should ease the AD integration as there's a specific membership provider for active directory.
