Thanks! Tom

Can I ask what is being updated for a 2.1.7 release?

Also will this update be critical to exisiting umbraco sites that are now live running on 2.1.6??

Hi Warren.

From this post:
http://forum.umbraco.org/frontend-html-css/updating-problems/re-updating-problems-5

Quote:

If you're running 2.1.6 it *could* be caused by that specific version is using .NET Cache instead of a static. I'm sitting at a wonderful and cozy Arizona based agency called Lavidge and we've just made a new umbraco build that solves that issue as well as fixing a couple of other bugs. Great people!

I think that's the most important part of the update...

Just following up. I didn't managed to release this today. With a little luck I might have time late tonight, else it'll be tomorrow around 14.00 (GMT+1) as I have meetings in the morning.

OK - here's the build:
http://forum.umbraco.org/media/umbraco2.1.7.zip

I've tested it, but I'd appreciate if you guys would test it and give feedback before I release it officially on the umbraco.org website.

Fixes (from 2.1.6 to 2.1.7):
- Changed usage of .NET Cache back to a static variable for the XML Content (could cause content rollback, especially on shared hosts)
- Fixes issue with index out of bounds error on runtime environment
- Fixes issue with choosing styles in the Richtext editor (where selected text would appear above the editor)

Upgrade (from 2.1.6 to 2.1.7):
- Copy the contents of /umbraco and /bin to your installation (make sure to do backup first). If you've installed new apps in umbraco (like RSS or Log viewer) you might need to restore the \umbraco\config\create\ui.xml file.

Cheers,
Niels...

Hi Niels

I had a problem when I upgraded to 2.1.7. I replaced the bin and umbraco directories. After the update, the published site did not output any code - white screen, no html. When I switched back the bin to 2.1.6 my site came back.

Before switching back, I tried restarting umbraco by touching the umbraco.xml file, but that didn't do anything. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tom

My mistake, you'll also need to replace /default.aspx (in the root) when upgrading.

Sorry, that should read - restart by touching the web.config file.

Niels -

Replacing the default.aspx page solved the blank screen problem. I just tested publishing with 2.1.7 and the caching problem seems to be fixed. Thanks again for making the time to post this update!

Hi Niels,

where can we find the source for this release?

I'm sure you know that the source link on the web site returns an error

Error * Berkeley DB error while opening 'uuids' table for filesystem /var/lib/svn/Umbraco2.1/db: Cannot allocate memory bdb: Lock table is out of available locker entries

Many thanks,
Harald

Source is here:
http://umbraco.org/download/umbraco2.1.7_source.zip

Yes, the link doesn't work but all future work is in CodePlex and a new website is on it's way, so the old will not be updated.

Cheers,
Niels...

Can anyone tell me the status of this upgrade? Is it stable?

I upgraded after having issues with site is restarting and site seems stable - been running less than a week though on 2.1.7.

Hi all
Niels: Thanks for v. 2.1.7. it solved my revert-to-old-contents problem as well (awaiting if it will also fix my permissions-on-xmlchanged.txt problem as well :-)

Gísli: After my update, nothing changed with /umbraco/default.aspx (which I anyways always bypass jumping directly to /umbraco/umbraco.aspx)

Recap on update instructions 2.1.6. --> 2.1.7.
* Download the new files from here: http://forum.umbraco.org/media/umbraco2.1.7.zip
* backup your old /bin and /umbraco folders and your /default.aspx file
* overwrite the /bin and /umbraco folders and /default.aspx file with the new ones
* now restore your old extensions like (umbraco RSS) by restoring /umbraco/config/create/UI.xml from your backup of the old folder and back in to your website

Best regards
Simon K
