TeamViewer is a truly great program for screen sharing, remote control and/or file transfer.

It uses a secured communication via a viewer client than requires no install at all, your trainee/client/coworker just launches the .exe file and they're erady to go. You as helper/presenter needs to install the full application.

What about the pricing then?
This is the nice part! It's free for all non commercial usage, and helping each other here in this forum is one area where the non-profit label absolutely could be used (in my definition).

The full version offers custom design with your logo and higher performance with worldwide servers and a bunch of other features depending on version, the pricing starts at:
$219.- for 6 months
$649.- for ever...

But the good part is that it is fully functional for free as long as you're in a non-profit organization or doing non-profit work elsewhere.

I really like this software and thought I should spread the word, here's their website!.

I use UltraVNC which is just as easy to use if you tell your customers to use the singleclick add-in when doing support sessions.

It is open-source and free for both private and commercial use

yap, I am using this for not getting crazy helping my brother or my parents via phone. This tool is really neat. Only the small bandwidth of my parents for upload (128k) is a bottleneck, but it works...

And I was sad not seeing the face of my brother who was screaming: "Oh my god, my computer is doing weird things by itselfe, help..." *veg*

I don't know how exactly UltraVNC works, but the advantage of TeamViewer is that you don't have to know the ip address of the client. TeamViewer connects to his server and gives you a sessionid and a passwort number...

e.g: my brother wants that I will help him. So he calls me and he starts Teamviewer. I will also start teamviewer and will enter the id and the password my brother got in his teamviewer, so my teamviewer gets from the server the info which ip he has to use...

Absolutely, since all IP adress, firewall restricions, port routing etc quite often makes connection a bit too tech savvy for most "non-techs" TeamViewer is a very smooth lane to walk down.

Just send your client the link to the executable file, ask them to open it and read / send you their ID and password...

It's so simple and it justs works...
