Hi,

I installed umbracoBlog from the packages repository and injected my own template to it. And yes, I'm quite new to Umbraco...

I noticed by default it has no support for "View by date", e.g. url like /2008/1/ will show an empty page. So I went and made the default template for Blog Date Folder DocumentType to be "umbracoBlog frontpage" for testing - I'm intending on making it support the dates somehow, but thats for later (has someone implemented it yet?).

But I noticed several more important issues, possibly bugs:

1. I had to explicitly call "Unpublish" and then "Publish" for each of the already-existing Date Folders, which does not make sense at all. All I did is to change the Document Type, why would I need to Unpublish and Publish again (Republish the whole site alone didn't help).

2. My site has this nodes structure:

Content
- My Content
- Blog
-- 2008
--- 1
---- 22
----- Welcome to your new blog
- Sitemap

Currently I can only access the date folders by direct access, e.g. mysite.com/2008/1/. How can I have them accessible under the Blog folder, as the structure suggests? (right now mysite.com/blog/2008/1/ errors).

3. The "Blog Date Folder" Document Type has only Blog Post set as Allowed Child nodetypes by default while I would expect it to have "Blog Date Folder" checked as well. Why is that?

Thanks in advance,

Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

Have also installed that package, but did not have the issues you're experiencing.

Just te make sure all went well during install, did you re-install the package again, on another umbraco instance?

Did you check the error messages?

Maybe start with a simple template for your date folders (eg an empty template, and gradually adding new elements?)

I too am quite new to umbraco, this is what I would try, not particularly in this order

Hope that helps a bit.

Rgrds.

Thanks Dirk, but I solved this blog issue with the help of Daniel B. Just for the record, it was an XSLT message which means "the node cannot be found". I needed to create a parent node and place all the other nodes in my site under it. Once I've done this it was all a matter of minutes until it worked perfectly.

The other issues I described remain. Even worse - once I select Move and move a node or a series of nodes to be under another parent, even if I repost the whole site from the context menu, I will still need to Unpublish and Publish all the nodes again for them to regain their new URL, otherwise I will still get that XSLT error.

Itamar.
