Decent budget ho(s)tels in cph are:
DanHostel and Cab-inn (don't know if anyone of them have more available seats, though).

Another possibility was to rent apartments and stay multiple people (for those without big expense accounts).

Jeeeez, did I really start this :-)

Hi Anders...

I have been looking over things as well. I believe there is a stop near to conference center.

Check out http://m.dk/. It has a mapping feature to let you find the best route.

I do know that there is a metro station called Islands Brygge, which should be fairly close.

Yes, the metro stops very close to the venue. Another thing is that the central part of Copenhagen is really small. It's a 2 km walk from the Central station to the venue (which is obviously a short cab ride too):

I got your e-mails Anders. I'll answer them asap, still struggling to follow after the long vacation.

You can also plan your journey from this site:

http://www.rejseplanen.dk/bin/query.exe/en?

Just enter "Islands Brygge 18, 2300 København S" in the "To" field.

I'm living in Copenhagen, and I'm ready to help if someone need... (I'm not that familar with hotels recommendations)

Regards
Martin

Several of us have Hotels booked near the Forum Metro station (just north of the lakes) and will be hopping the train to Islands Brygge. Look at the metro page and figure out which hotels are close to stations and can get you to Island Brygge station, and you may be able to save some coin.

I didn't check the rates yet.

Maybe I'll join you at this other place if it is that steep.....

I'll be there too - I'll be the one with the puzzled look on his face, constantly asking questions. Hopefully now and again the odd lightbulb will appear above my head or a look of sudden comprehension on my face...!

Looking forward to it!
