1 and 1 - Any joy? Options

Hi all

My client hosts all his sites using 1 and 1 http://www.1and1.co.uk/. Has anyone had any joy with them in terms of hosting umbraco.

I went through a detailed process of asking specific questions: i.e
1. Do you support asp.net 2
2. Do you support SQL 2005
3. D you support folder permissions etc etc.

I already have had to downgrade my database to SQL2000, despite them telling me they support 2005, now when I have setup my site, it appears to be setup as a redirect to a folder where all the files are. I have been extremely frustrated with them. Now I understand that there are other options available, but I have already told my client to switch from their Linux package to the MS Package. I would hate to tell him to switch to another provider :(

Hi, Andrew,

I don't know about 1and1 specifically, maybe someone else does.

In any event, another thing you'll want to confirm with them... do they allow sites to run in Full Trust (or, at least, High Trust)? Medium Trust is common but umbraco won't run properly in that environment.

Let us know what you find out.
