I've used umbraco for a while now on webdrive.co.nz - their support is fantastic and Umbraco works perfectly. Maybe a little more expensive than US hosting but having a site hostly locally certainly helps with speed.

Nice to know there are some other people from NZ using umbraco. We've took the plunge and now use Umbraco for all our CMS sites, and haven't looked back.
Handy to know that web drive support it.

Yeah we've been using a Umbraco for about 1 year now and have successfully installed it on the following NZ hosts.
http://www.iserve.net.nzhttp://www.2day.comhttp://www.net24.co.nzhttp://www.digiweb.co.nzIve found that even when you have problems with the install eg user rights etc if you talk to the providers they are usually fairly accommodating.

One websites I have installed on Net24 was up and working until a couple of weeks ago - then it just stopped working. Getting an object not set to intance of an object in the admin area (front end works fine) and Net24 have not helped me at all, I've moved website to my own VPS and it works fine, works fine locally, just can't see to get any help from them, al they tell me is "we've had customer's with this error before and it always turns out to be a coding error" - i just can't seem to get through to them it works elsewhere, unfortunately the company I work for hosts all sites at net24 so I can't easilly just move it somewhere else.
