Is there a way to make it so that I can upload a photo or two to my main page in a header, and use a XSLT and a macro to call that whole section on another page. I got down using the divs. i just don't know how to get the actual file using the @alias and the nodes.

Yes, put that DIV in a Macro, and include that Macro in your different Templates.

you could also use that image, if for instance you were using an upload field on that docType on the nodes underneath it by using the recursive property.
