I am new to umbraco, could someone point me towards a doc/book about how to setup umbraco in multi user development scenario

What sort of tasks do you want these people to do? You may be able to manage your requirements creating logins in the Users section. These can then be tweaked to only have access to certain sections or areas in the admin.
Pretty much by definition, umbraco is heavily biased towards team driven builds.
