HI

I have just installed Umbraco om a Windows Vista system an a SQL Server 8 database.

I have also installed a website pack, but when i publish the page I can not find it, where do I set the adress of the page?

For ex. i have a page called home.aspx, i have tried to find it with the following adress:
http://localhost/home.aspx but nothing shows. What have i missed?

Thanks i advance!

First of all, welcome here.

It seems you've been able to install umbraco and the Creative Website Wizard, right?

As an answer to your first question: you do not need to set the address of the page, it is done automagically when publishing the page. If your page is called 'Home', you should be able to browse to http://localhost/Home.aspx and see something.

Did you miss something? Probably, but you'll need to tell more about what you've done so far when creating the page? Do you have a template set?

Give us some more info, or even a screenshot, and we'll be happy to help you along!

Good luck,
/Dirk

HI

Yes the installation worked fine, and i can open end edit the pages in Umbraco.

But when I for ex. try to open the adress http://localhost/home.aspx then I do dont get any page.

I have installed Creative Website Wizard and it worked fine.

How do i set up the template?

Best regards

Fredrik

Here's some info to get your home page display something:

- Go to 'Settings' section, right-click 'Templates' and click 'Create'. Call it 'Home' or whatever you prefer.
- Click on the 'Home' template to edit. Enter some valid html in there. ('Hello world' would be a good start :) You can always edit later on). Click 'Save' icon.
- Go to 'Content' section, and click your 'Home' node. Find out what doc type that is.
- Go to 'Settings' section, expand the 'Document Types' node and click and the doc type for the 'Home' page.
- Make sure you select your 'Home' template in the list of 'Allowed templates'. Click 'Save' icon
- Now go back to 'Content' section and select your 'Home' page node. On the 'Properties' tab, make sure you select the template you've created previously in the dropdown. Click 'Save' icon
- Right-click your 'Home' node and select 'Publish'. You could have done this in previous step by clicking the 'Save and Publish' icon.
- Browse to your 'Home' node page. You will find the link on the 'Properties' tab when you select your node in the tree.
- Et voilà, you should see the famous 'Hello World', right?

Good luck,
/Dirk
