I'd like to use umbraco for a staff newsletter. It exists at the moment but we would like to allow people to comment on selected articles so moving to a CMS seemed the simplest solution.
I am sure that umbraco would support comments on articles 'out-of-the-box' but I just need confirmation. Ideally, our authors would have a checkbox to allow them to decide which articles would have comments switched on.
I can't install a demo to test things out since everything is locked down by our IT people. I'll just have to hand the package and installation instructions to them once I'm confident that it will do the job.
I've been running web sites for a fair while but I'm fairly new to the CMS world. I use a Mac and my non-work sites are almost all on Apache/Unix servers. I have started using a CMS called SilverStripe which seems to have a very similar design philosophy to umbraco. I'm hoping umbraco can match the simplicity and flexibility of SilverStripe.

Hi. Umbraco is capable of doing what you need. It is not 100% OOTB functionality but the effort required to set this up is minimal. As it appears that you haven't decided to install Umbraco just yet I won't go into any implementation details, but you can be assured that there will be someone in the forum who is willing to help you out come the time. Hope this helps.

Darren, Thanks for the quick reply. It confirms 2 things - Umbraco looks to be a good tool for the job, and there is an active support community.
cheers bruce
