Does the Umbraco content section support the concept of node locking? As far as I can tell it doesn't.

We have a client who will have multiple people editting Content.

If 2 people were to edit the same content node at the same time, it seems to me that whomever presses "SAVE" last will get their changes saved, and the other editor (who saved first) will lose their work.

What we really need is for the system to prevent 2 people from working on the same content node at the same time.

Can Umbraco do this? Is there an extension or patch for this type of functionality?

Don't think it's available out-of-the-box.
Both versions will be in the db though.

I guess you'll have to hack the code to lock down a node for editing.
I thought 'Shandem' has added support for custom menu items (Making it easier to create some sort of check-in/out system, but you'll still need some way to make content nodes read-only by default, eg not firing save when items have been checked out by someone else?)

Does the DB store versions which have not been published, or does it only store the published history?

Adam,

I do believe that node locking will be included in future release? Although someone from core team should be able to verify.
