Hi all,

I created this post yesterday evening.

URL: http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postsm27617_v4-installation.aspx

Now I can still access this directly, but I cannot seem to find it listed when I simply access the category in which it is listed.

Can somebody check this for me and tell me if i'm going nuts :P

Regards

/ Jacob

You are right, I cannot find it either in that category. However it is listed on Active Topics if I select 'since last two days'.

Strange.

Is it me or umbraco? Umbraco Certified Professional Level 2.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for verifying this issue for me. Nice to know about the 'Active Topics' section, I had not seen that one yet :)

There does however, from my machine, seem to be a generel problem with the 'Installing' category. If, at the bottom of the page, I try to alter the timeframe for which I want to see posts then you get a false result. Choosing 'All' posts will result in 51 pages but choosing 'Last day' will result in 42 pages starting with a post from 16th July which is clearly not meeting the 'Last day' criteria :)

If there truly is a bug, where then should this be posted to ensure the fastest possible fix?

Regards

/ Jacob

Just noticed.

If I choose 'Last day' resulting in 42 pages and then choose the last page, my post shows up there. Clearly something is wrong with the 'Installing' category.

The misc section has this problem as well. My posts never show in the category directly, only in the Active topics or directly linking to them. Here's an example I just posted today.

http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postst5991_URL-generated-incorrectly-for-nodes.aspx

You won't see it if simply browsing to the Misc category. It does however show in the latest post column on the forum home page.

Is the forum system here the same package used in the umbraco system?

Nope, forum.umbraco.org is a yaf.net forum.
Not all available features are enabled though.

There are various issues with the forum. Most posts don't appear in the topic but can appear in the Active topics and as the the last topic in the forum overview.

I thought for a second that my post which highlighted a bug on the site elsewhere had been deleted. Paranoia over now but someone should look at these issues as it doesn't look good on Umbraco in general (e.g. the question on if the forum is Umbraco powered!!).

I'll just jump into this thread too.

The last two topics I created are also invisible in the normail category views. Only through the active topics is it possible to see following topics:

http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postst6410_Multilingual-11--Where-did-the-umbracocmsbusinesslogic-go-.aspx?find=unread

http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postst6443_Umbracians-in-Italy.aspx?find=unread

The problem is that these topics properly don't get any replies, so until this bug is fixed, the forum is read-only for some of us. :(

I must say this is my first big disappointment with umbraco. Such an important issue when documentation is not on the level - the forum - is not working. It slowed down my testing of the CMS and building firt test website, in some areas even brought to the full stop.

By itself, that slowdon is not a problem (not with Open Source) but the fact that there is no answer on this thread, no recognition of the problem... it worries me.

Hi psiho,

It is weird, as I've deleted my post (the one you get when you do a search on "1:1"), cause I thought it was irrelevant, but it still appears in the search. Must be some sort of caching going on.

But, you're right, sometimes people just can't find the posts they've written themselved.

I wouldn't bet on a quick fix in the next days though.

Only few people have access to the forum and its source, and even then, I guess it's quite difficult for them to reproduce exactly the same problem.

And to be honest with you, at the company I'm currently contracting for, a bug that is not reproducable is not a bug... I tend to agree.

/Dirk

oh, yes, that is a definition of bug in my company too :) but in this case at least 10 people are having the same problem.

Anyway, I do understand you, will try from different PC, different account, etc. To find a workarround.

As you can see from my username I tried to find worarround but failed.

- Tried different PC (the one from office), same thing
- tried creating another username - same thing

... certain threads do not display latest posts and to my understanding my posts to those threads are also not visible to others. But I'm not sure about that one...

Dirk, you say it is hard to reproduce the problem, that means to majority of people all posts are visible? SO you can see all the posts in "Extending Umbraco subforum" now? Can you se this post near top: http://forum.umbraco.org/yaf_postsm32302_checkbox-lists-and-multilanguage.aspx ?

Hi psiho,

Like to verify this, but I have a slightly different member profile, so it could make a difference.
And no, I don't see your post on top of the section... Although posts should be sorted on date.

Single advice I have now is to use the 'Active topics' link... I agree, it's not a solution, rather a workaround...

/Dirk

None of the post you do in Installation section stays there :S So you can only see the Last post on main site.
