Sounds like a great project!
I'd be willing to test it as it comes along. I've got a couple sites that could use an integrated forum.

I think one of the key features of a forum is searchability. This YAF forum would be more valuable if searching was stronger. I would be interested in sponsoring Lucerne.Net extended searching options (search suggest, spelling suggestions) for both Umbraco and the Forums4Umbraco project. Full Query Sytax would be awesome but the aurgument would probably be let Google do it's thing... http://ismail.umbraco.net/dotlucene/documentation/QuerySyntax.htmlIsmail?

I'd love to see this happen but for slightly different reasons.
This could be a great way to dig into Umbraco and see how things work!
If you release early with a small list of features, it will be much easier for those of us who don't know as much about the Umbraco API to be inspired. Then, as you add new features, we can look at *them* and go ahhhh...
A solid follow-on from that is document the source, document it again and then document it some more ;)

Hi kcuk, Short term -> look at yaf... Adz has done a nice blog post on the yaf integration in umbraco: http://www.createsoft.co.uk/blog/?p=18I'm not sure when a first version will be released due to other priorities of the three of us... Regards, /Dirk

Hi everyone, Just wondering if there is any progress on the forum project happening in the background. Codeplex isn't showing evidence of much?
Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris, Bit ashamed to admit, but again, there hasn't been much coding efforts over the last weeks, months... but I'm promising to pick up development real soon. I'm not making any estimates on release dates... Regards, /Dirk

What is the status of this project? Maybe open up and share the design and source docs at codeplex so that others could contribute?
An integrated forum is much needed!

Hi Daniel, Bit disappointed to announce we didn't get as far as we would have liked. All of us have had other priorities and nothing productive has been released atm. Funny you're asking this the day before the Benelux user group meeting in Amsterdam as Richard and myself will have a talk on how to start/proceed. At least we've expressed our intention to get an integrated forum up and running in the next couple of months. Ok, this might not have been what you wanted to hear... But as this is currently a non sponsored project, we do focus on other things first. Bottom line: don't expect a production release soon. If you're looking on how to integrate an existing system, perform a search on yetanotherforum.net (yaf) integration here on the forum and you'll find some pointers of members that have succeeded. Regards, /Dirk

Dirk, I fully understand the priorities you have to make, the forum project being a non-sponsored project.
Is there no chance you could consider open up the project, to get others involved as well? I am sure there would be others interested in helping out. I am one, of course my schedule is a as busy as yours, but together maybe we could get this thing rolling.
I have a non-commercial community site I've made pro-bono that really could use a forum. And the umbraco project as a whole could really benefit from an integrated forum package, as well as other community/portal functions like PMs etc.

There are some issues still to be solved. But I think are no real show stoppers. Dave Dave on Umbraco
