wasn't sure if this was the right place for this or not... do we maybe need a tips and tricks area???

anyway, this has been driving me nuts for literally a year... you SEO score suffers fro bots thinking that domain.com and www.domain.com are two different places...

anyway, i found this... and it appears to be working... add this rule to your urlrewriting.config in the config directory...

Hiya Bob, cool that you found to do this with a URL rewrite rule, but I thought setting up a redirect in IIS would be simpler if you have access to it.

it would be, if you have access to it... but many do not... yes, i do have access, but this way, the urlre-write rule could be part of all my umbraco installs :P

Both domains need to be setup in iis.

No need to do this in a url rewrite

@tim,

both the domains are set up in IIS but search engines will index them as two separate sites without the 301 redirect -- at least this is my understanding and the feedback i received with many automated SEO evaluation tools...

but please, let me know if this is mis-information that i am posting and i will recant/have dirk remove because i do not want to create any confusion or issues for users.
